Wells Inspection System is designed and manufactured by TARIS for CCTV inspection of tubings, casings and bottomholes in vertical wells of 3200 m deep with 50 – 150 mm in diameter and temperature up to 90°C (by request it can be up to 120°C and more).

The system allows detecting damages inside the casing and tubing, to identify stuck objects, tubing displacement and other complications, to define the current bottomhole condition and the well perforation.

The system represents a mobile facility mounted on a truck and consists of a colour video camera with resolution 380 TV lines, a fiber-optic cable with length not less than 3600 m, an electric hoist with a cable drum and a control station. The whole system equipment is located in a motor vehicle body with perfected thermo-moisture-proofing.

System components:

• Video camera (colour) ø42 mm with a centralizer;
• Electric hoist;
• Reinforced fiber-optic cable;
• Control station;
• Spare tools and devices set;
• Motor vehicle for laboratory.

At CCTV inspection a video camera is inserted in a well through the lubricator. The camera moving in pipes (tubing, etc.) realizes transmission of a colour video image in real time of the well or tubing inner walls surface, or the image of well bottomholes on the operator's screen. In the process of survey an operator can regulate the video camera brightness of lighting and the speed of motion.

Connection with video camera and its power supply is realizing at a load-carrying fiber-optic cable located on a cable drum. On the cable drum exit arm there is an electromechanical cable length counter.

In the process of operation the information line, containing data of current date and time, depth of camera immersion, temperature in inspection zone and arbitrary entered information from the keyboard of control station, is overlaying on the image.

All the equipment is located in a special motor vehicle body.

The video camera represents a box which contains a TV block and a module of lighting. There is an electric connector for linking to the cable on a back side of the camera. The video camera case is made of corrosion-resistance material.

A cable drum is meant for cable storage, winding and unwinding.

The cable drum consists of a frame, a reel, an automatic cable layer, a mechanism of correct laying, an electric drive, an unattended slip rings and balancer with a distance sensor.

The control station composes of a computer video monitor, a control unit, a secondary power supply and a control panel, located in a proof cover. The control station power supply can be carried out from ac source 220 V, 50 Hz.

The motor vehicle body has the following characteristics:

• Inner dimensions 4 х 2,5 х 2 m;
• Two compartements;
• Drop window in a partition;
• Swing doors from behind;
• Side door to the front compartement;
• Improved thermal insulation;
• High water-resistance.

At the present time TARIS Corp. modernizes the wells CCTV inspection system constructing two-directed video camera consisting of two modules – the first one with a video camera directed down along the well axis and the second module – with a video camera directed at the well wall and equipped with a rotation drive of wall inspection on circle. The two-directed video camera will transmit the colour image on two channels in the mode of real time. An operator will have an opportunity of remotely controlling by video camera turn of the second module and by video camera focusing.
